I have have been using my own photos and AI programs to try to change my photos into illustration form to use as book covers for the next few book ideas.
Some programs are good while others I just can't find the 'right' one. If anyone has used any of these programs and they are free to use, please let me know. I have sent out a few feelers to friends .
I am working on the next book but it all depends on the book cover illustration. Stay tuned!
You may be wondering why the cover for My Magical Backyard isn't a drawing to show it's a book for children.
Once you start reading it you will see why the cover picture is a picture of a sunset with clouds.
The cover will introduce you to the story that will unfold inside. Since this was the first book in the series it shows the clouds in sunset because JJ likes to look up at the clouds and day dream!
Each cover will relate to a part of the story inside. You may get it right away or it might take a while until you 'get it!' Enjoy!!
Have been floating some ideas around in my head!
I have tried once again to draw some illustrations but they aren't coming out the way I want them to.
I am trying some programs that allow you to use photos and make them look like drawings.
The first cover for My Magical Backyard was a picture I took from my backyard several years ago. It was to set the scene for my book. I want to use other pictures I took myself but somewhat in a cartoon form for the covers to give readers an idea of what the adventure is going to be.
So I'm making copies of the pictures so I can use them to play with different ideas.
If anyone has any suggestions just pop on and leave it in the comment section! Thanks!
You would think the hard part of writing a book is... well, writing a book!
That is usually the easy part. Once an idea pops into your head you are off to the races with all these ideas flowing out of your head!
Getting your book published can be daunting but it can be done.
For me, and I think a lot of writers, soon find out the hardest part of writing their book is when it's done and published and the dreaded 'selling the book." This can be difficult to get people to actually go and find your book and decide if they want to buy it. I think my stories are interesting but I also know not everyone will feel the same.
I like that Amazon(where my books are) gives you a peek inside the book so you can decide if you like it enough to purchase it.
I am hoping you like it enough to buy it and let others know about it. Word of mouth is fantastic! Also, reviews are welcomed and I hope you will like my books enough to leave a review.

The one thing you will notice is that I didn't include pictures or drawings as I did with my first book, Starlight. I want children to use their own imaginations when they are reading my books or when someone reads to them. I may add a drawing of what JJ looks like or her dog, Firecracker, or something from her adventures.
But for this book there aren't any pictures or drawings just their own imaginations!
As with the e book edition there is also a 'surprise' page at the end of the e book and softcover book that I haven't seen done before. I hope you like it!

Got the proof copy from, My Magical Backyard, and didn't like how it looked in actual print.
So, I worked on a better print version and I should be receiving the second proof copy by Friday January 13, 2023! I KNOW!! Friday the Thirteenth!! 👀 But the 13th usually works out good for me.
Fingers crossed it does this time. 🤞

I have been working on publishing 'My Magical Backyard' and I am happy to say... It's going to happen!!!
I wasn't sure if I would be able to get through all the steps necessary but I have been working through it all.
I will be receiving a proof copy soon and if it all looks ok, it will be available to publish. I am so excited about this.

On January 4, 2023 I published my new Kindle ebook, My Magical Backyard, which I hope will delight readers of all ages!
By that I mean the younger ones who have started reading and for those a little older, and of course for all the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles that enjoy reading to the younger family members.
I am hoping to make JJ's adventures into a series of short stories to enjoy and keep that imagination of childhood alive and thriving! JJ, whose name is Jennifer Julia, likes to watch the clouds float by and day dream about wondrous magical adventures in her own backyard with her dog, Firecracker! She also learns along the way that is fun and she is always safe in her own backyard and of course her ever watchful and faithful companion Firecracker is there to protect her and keep her safe.
I hope you find this enjoyable, I have not added pictures, so far, because I want each child to use their own imaginations as they read these stories or have them read to them.
I have this in e book form but am thinking about a paperback version. I am looking into that. I would appreciate any feedback on this. My first book, Starlight, was published in paperback in 2010 with my publisher. I recently turned it into an e book but in the Spring I am hoping to offer it both in paperback and e book form.
